Some of SPREAD's activities do not fit neatly in a programme category. Below are examples of SPREAD's other work.

Interface with Officials - In cases where the beneficiaries' attempts to meet with officials have been unsuccessful, SPREAD intervenes.

Needs Analysis - In struggling villages, a participatory vulnerability assessment is completed with the cooperation of the villagers. Plans are then made to address the problems of the neediest villagers.

Government Housing Scheme - In informal village meetings, SPREAD staff discuss the government housing scheme (Indira Awas Yojana) and identify potential beneficiaries. Then we help fill necessary forms to avail the benefit.

Income Generation Projects - Small amounts of money are sometimes disbursed as micro-loans for income generation activities. The beneficiaries invest in activities such as petty business, agriculture, vegetable farming and goatery.

Cultural Preservation - To preserve the history and tradition of the tribes, information and materials are gathered for safe-keeping. Items such as herbal medicines, traditional song documents, festival information, a summary of the tribe's justice system and history are shared with officials. The children are involved in these activities, to foster a sense of pride in their culture.

Health Referrals - At times, SPREAD sends critically ill and chronically ill persons to District Headquarters Hospital, Koraput for treatment. All expenses for these patients are supported by SPREAD.
