Letter from the Secretary:
In Amlaput Village we asked whether it was better to have land or a well-paying job. "Land" one woman said. "Because a job can end, but land is forever."
SPREAD's expertise is in the complicated land laws of Koraput district, because in this agrarian society land is the best hope for our communities' continued food security and livelihood and confers status and dignity.
We bridge the gap between India's most marginalized citizens and their rights under the Constitution by giving our communities the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to advocate for their interests not only in land entitlements, but in food and other social security programmes.
