SPREAD works with tribal groups, scheduled caste groups, and other poor communities in the state of Orissa’s Koraput district. Koraput is one of the 69 districts of India identified as being notably disadvantaged regarding poverty, hunger, infant mortality, immunization, literacy, school enrolment and gender disparity.
We coordinate a fundraising programme that matches donors generosity to the immediate needs of our target community. Your contribution can allow a child to see a doctor, repair a house after a fire, help a widow to start a small business, or more.
SPREAD is a rights-based organisation. Based on our beliefs that every human being has a set of basic rights (food, work, education, etc.), we concentrate on connecting the poor to the government benefits to which they're entitled.
Inaugurated in 1989, SPREAD is dedicated to empowering the marginalized communities of Koraput district so that they may access their rights to land, food and work. Ultimately this will lead to their ability to maintain a dignified way of life.
SPREAD works in a variety of rights-focused areas, including Right to Food, Right to Land, Right to Work, Rights for the Disabled, Rights of Women and Children, and with People's Organisations.
SPREAD organises numerous events that advocate for the rights of the marginalized. Interested parties are invited to attend many of these events
